I had put it in a 55 degree cellar. I had done everything right. And I still missed the window because I never looked at it.
I went looking for the tool that would stop this from happening again. The category leader is fifteen years old, has the depth of a research database, and the user interface of one. The flashy consumer apps wanted me to scan labels for ratings on bottles I was going to drink that night. Nothing was built around the question I actually had: when should I open this.
So I built it. Cellared is the cellar tool I wanted. Drinking windows on every bottle. A sommelier that knows what is in your cellar before you ask. A pairing engine that recommends the wine you already own. Five-minute setup. Free for unlimited bottles.
The collector behind it
I am a 450-bottle collector with WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and Court of Master Sommeliers Introductory certification. The cellar leans Bordeaux, Brunello, Barolo, Rhone, with a Champagne library and a working Burgundy section. I drink, I take notes, I open things on weeknights. The app is built by someone who uses it.
What Cellared will be
A wine cellar tool that respects how collectors actually drink. The drinking window is the wedge. Pairing, palate learning, household sharing, and Quick Pick all flow from one premise: the app should know your cellar well enough to answer a real question in one tap.
What Cellared will not be
- An ad-supported wine app. We make money on subscriptions only.
- A marketplace that takes a cut from your purchases.
- A data broker. We do not sell your collection or your palate to anyone.
- A social network. Your cellar is private by default.
Where this goes
Cellared launches on iOS in May 2026 in the US and UK. Android and iPad come later in 2026. Beyond launch, the work is calibration, depth, and listening to the collectors who actually use the product. If that is you, I want to hear from you.
