At Peak: in the heart of its drinking window (2018-2039).
In 2026, the Joseph Drouhin Musigny Grand Cru 2015 is eight years into its peak drinking window, which runs through 2039. The 2015 vintage richness has fully integrated with Le Musigny terroir signature: opulent, sun-drenched fruit has softened into a layered, perfumed expression where red cherry, violet, rose petal, and forest floor are intertwined. The silky tannins that define Musigny at its finest are fully resolved, and the wine is expressing both the power of the vintage and the delicacy of the vineyard simultaneously. Collectors have thirteen years of peak drinking ahead, but 2026 is one of the finest moments in this long window.

Tasting note
The color is luminous, deep garnet with a pink-tinged rim. The nose is effortlessly complex: red and dark cherry, violet, rose petal, spice, and forest floor weave together in the perfumed, almost ethereal way that only Musigny achieves. On the palate, the body is mid-weight but concentrated, with the 2015 vintage natural richness adding unusual depth without sacrificing the silky finesse that defines this lieu-dit. Tannins are gossamer, acidity bright, and the finish extends indefinitely, carrying an almost impossible lightness of touch alongside remarkable depth. This is Burgundy at its most hauntingly beautiful, the benchmark expression of what Le Musigny can be in a celebrated warm year.
The 2015 vintage
The 2015 Burgundy vintage is one of the finest of the decade, marked by a warm, dry summer and an early harvest in late August and early September. The growing season featured sufficient heat to fully ripen Pinot Noir, enough sun to build phenolic maturity, and none of the rain or rot that plagued other years. Wine Spectator named 2015 an outstanding vintage for Burgundy, noting the wines exceptional combination of ripe fruit and structural precision. For Chambolle-Musigny and Le Musigny specifically, the warm year added unusual richness to a vineyard that typically produces Burgundy most delicate and perfumed Grand Cru expression, creating a generation-defining bottle that balances vineyard refinement with vintage amplitude.
About Joseph Drouhin
Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy most respected negociant-eleveur operations, founded in Beaune in 1880 and now in its fourth generation under the Drouhin family. The house holds a small parcel of Le Musigny, one of Burgundy most revered Grand Crus, and produces a tiny quantity of this label each vintage. Winemaking at Drouhin emphasizes finesse and site expression over extraction, resulting in wines of exceptional elegance and longevity. Veronique Drouhin-Boss, the principal winemaker, trained in both Burgundy and at the family Oregon estate, and applies a minimalist philosophy that allows each site to speak clearly.
From the cellar: pair with
Roasted Squab with Black Truffle and Wild Mushroom Jus
Musigny silky tannins and layered red fruit find their natural companion in squab iron-tinged flesh, while the truffle and mushroom echo the wine forest floor and spice dimension.
Rack of Lamb with Herb Crust and Cassis Jus
The 2015 ripe cherry and violet character harmonize with the sweetness of lamb, while the wine gossamer tannin structure and bright acidity cut through the fat without overwhelming the delicate terroir.
Aged Comte or Vacherin Mont d Or Cheese
The wine perfumed, silky character complements the nutty, complex flavors of aged Comte, with each bite amplifying the wine floral and mineral dimensions in a classic Burgundy pairing.
Service & cellaring
- Serving Temp
- 60-62F (15-17C)
- Decanting
- Decant 30 to 45 minutes in 2026. Eight years into its peak, this Musigny has developed beautifully but benefits from brief aeration to allow its complex aromatic layers to fully express. A gentle pour into a wide-mouthed Burgundy glass and 30 minutes on the table before the first sip will transform the experience. Do not over-decant: more than 60 minutes risks losing the volatile floral aromatics that make Musigny singular.
- Cellar Storage
- 55F (13C), 65% humidity, bottle on its side.
The drinking window on this bottle is calculated with the Cellared Ageability Index (CAI) v1.0, a 10-factor model. Try the free drinking window calculator on any wine, or read when to drink wine for the practical signals.

Frequently Asked
Is the 2015 Drouhin Musigny ready to drink in 2026?
Yes, and it is in a beautiful place right now. Eight years into its peak, the wine has completed its integration phase and is expressing the full complexity of both vineyard and vintage. The 2015 richness and the Musigny delicacy are now in perfect harmony. The peak window extends through 2039, so there is no urgency, but 2026 represents one of the finest moments to open this wine.
How does the 2015 vintage affect Musigny relative to cooler years?
The 2015 vintage added unusual richness and concentration to Le Musigny, which typically produces Burgundy most delicate and perfumed Grand Cru. The result is a wine with more body than classic cool-vintage expressions but the same silky texture and aromatic lift. Collectors who prefer a richer, more opulent Musigny will find the 2015 exceptional among all recent vintages.
What makes the Le Musigny vineyard so celebrated?
Le Musigny is the largest Grand Cru in Chambolle-Musigny and, for most collectors, the most celebrated of all Burgundy Grand Crus. Its combination of thin, limestone-rich topsoil, excellent drainage, and east-southeast exposure produces wines of otherworldly perfume, silky texture, and remarkable longevity that are unlike any other wine in the world.
How long can I cellar the 2015 Drouhin Musigny?
The hard decline horizon is 2048, meaning the wine has over two decades of aging potential beyond today. The peak window runs through 2039. With multiple bottles, the ideal strategy is to open one now to experience the early peak, one in five years, and one in ten years to track the full arc of development.
