Approaching Peak: drinkable, but best years are ahead.
In May 2026, the 2018 Meo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Aux Brulees has been open for drinking since 2025 and is now entering the transitional phase between early drinking and the beginning of its peak window, which runs from 2030 through 2045. The wine currently shows with lovely fruit expressiveness and the velvety tannin texture that makes 2018 Burgundy so appealing in its youth. Those who open bottles now will be rewarded with a wine of considerable beauty, particularly after a 30 to 45 minute decant. Those who wait through 2030 will encounter the full complexity of secondary aromatics and the mature mineral depth that Meo-Camuzet Aux Brulees develops over time. Both approaches offer genuine pleasure; patience simply offers more.

Tasting note
Meo-Camuzet's Aux Brulees is one of Vosne-Romanee's most prized premier cru vineyards, a south-facing site adjacent to Richebourg whose name references the scorched, sun-exposed nature of the terrain. The estate, managed by Jean-Nicolas Meo with assistance from the legendary Henri Jayer through the 1990s, has consistently produced Aux Brulees of extraordinary character and sensual beauty. The 2018 vintage is a wine of exquisite aromatic complexity. The nose opens with sweet red berries, fresh-picked cherries, and a thread of orange rind that adds a citrus brightness to the berry fruit. Smoked duck and exotic spices introduce a savory, umami-rich dimension that deepens the bouquet and gives it remarkable complexity for a premier cru. The aromatic integration is seamless and beautiful, each element weaving into the next without competition or dominance. On the palate the wine is medium to full-bodied with velvety, fine-grained tannins that provide a luxurious textural foundation. The acidity is succulent and focused, driving the wine forward toward a long, chalky finish that carries mineral depth and the estate's signature precision through an extended, complex conclusion. One of the finest expressions of Vosne premier cru territory available from any producer.
The 2018 vintage
The 2018 Burgundy vintage produced Pinot Noir of exceptional warmth, ripeness, and textural richness across the Cote de Nuits. In Vosne-Romanee, where the combination of south-facing premier cru exposure and deep clay-limestone soils already delivers wines of considerable density, the 2018 conditions added an unusual degree of fruit generosity and accessible tannin structure that makes the vintage's wines more immediately pleasurable than many cooler years. For the sun-exposed Aux Brulees vineyard, which already benefits from maximum solar accumulation, 2018 produced fruit of remarkable concentration and aromatic complexity.
About Méo-Camuzet
Meo-Camuzet is one of Vosne-Romanee's most celebrated estates, holding extensive premier cru and grand cru holdings throughout the village and beyond. The estate's winemaking philosophy was shaped in part by the legendary Henri Jayer, who leased the domaine's vines and advised Jean-Nicolas Meo through much of the 1980s and 1990s, establishing the precise, fruit-forward style that defines the estate today. Aux Brulees is one of the premier cru jewels in the estate's portfolio, consistently producing wines of sensual beauty, aromatic complexity, and the precise mineral depth that distinguishes the finest Vosne-Romanee premier crus.
From the cellar: pair with
Roasted pigeon with foie gras and black truffle jus

Duck breast with orange and cherry reduction
The wine's sweet red berry core, orange rind note, and fine acidity create a natural and elegant harmony with duck prepared with citrus and cherry.
Aged Epoisses washed-rind cheese with sourdough
